Job Purpose

The Yard Operator is an integral part of the Yard Team who will contribute to output efficiencies whilst maintaining quality in a safe working environment using visual inspection and good housekeeping

The Hull site is pivotal to the supply of joinery and other supply chain products to the national Jewson network, we pride ourselves on customer satisfaction and have built up a solid reputation in meeting their requirements. The site will continue to evolve with new products regularly added to the portfolio, the experience of handling many different products means the site is often a preferred option for the handling, storing and distribution. The site has an excellent safety record and a H&S culture which all the team has actively implemented

Previous skills/experience required;

Team working – Operate effectively with all members of the Hull team, this will include office based colleagues and operational teams.

Attention to detail – when picking products and when recording product information.

Flexibility, to be able to change working patterns should the operational needs dictate.

Positive can do attitude – the site has a good reputation for providing customer satisfaction which often means we need to challenge the way we operate to meet these needs.

Positive safety culture – the site has a very good safety culture which all the teams have bought into.

The candidate will also ideally have a current MHE (Counterbalance license, further training will be given to the successful candidate) Timber knowledge would be beneficial experience in a warehouse surrounding, picking products and preparing them to be safely and securely delivered to the customer.

Duties will include

To undertake general tasks within the timber processing plant at the discretion of and under the direction of the Yard Supervisor
Meet targets set by the company in terms of timely and accurate loading/unloading of vehicles
Contribute to safe and efficient running of overall site
Ensure all handling, loading and storage of goods is carried out and maintained in a safe manner
Ensure routine checks are carried out in a timely and accurate manner
Ensure all documentation is completed in a timely and accurate manner
To ensure correct stock rotation takes place, pickers should always be picking the oldest stock to fulfil orders
To Ensure that all inbound stock is subject to coloured labels to indicate arrival month in line with the BSA-ST10 Stock rotation procedure
Maintain and take responsibility for 5s housekeeping in working area.
