Our client is a medium sized engineering firm who are looking to recruit a experienced welding foreman to join the team
Job Description
The Welding Foreman, reporting to the Fabrication Manager, is responsible for the daily running of the welding department. The candidate must be able to read engineering drawings and should have had extensive plating experience. Previous welding experience in the following processes would be advantageous. (MIG /TIG /SAW/FCAW)
Area/People Responsibility
4 x Platers, 12 x welders, 2 x labourers
Job Role
Apportion work to individual platers & welders.
Communicating technical aspects of jobs to platers & welders and ensuring that weld maps and weld procedures & welder approvals are fully adhered with.
Ensuring essential documentation required in maintaining traceability such as pre•heats/ weld settings/ consumable control etc are accurately recorded.
Ensuring welding operations are performed efficiently and planned v’s actual hours are achieved.
Responsible for setting the quality/welding standards within the department and ensuring they are maintained.
Responsible for ensuring that departmental Standard Operating Procedures are adhered with.
Liaising closely with the in house NDT operators ensuring that all NDT is carried out as described on the route sheets.
Assist in managing the department budget including procurement of welding consumables.
Assist in managing the weekly production plan. o Manage holiday rota within the department.
Manage and supervise overtime working within the department. o Manage absence and lateness within the department.
Responsible for the disciplinary process up to and including verbal warning stage o Ensure high standards of house-keeping are maintained and all workstations are kept clean and tidy.
Actively partake in the Health & Safety committee.
Overall responsibility for HSE within the workshop – flag up training where required.
Support the management team when required.
Person Specification
Comprehensive hands-on welding/plating knowledge and experience.
Fully conversant with detailed engineering drawings and technical specifications.
An extensive knowledge of welding inspection including all Non Destructive
Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
Enthusiastic, flexible and committed. A strong sense of responsibility and accountability.
CSWIP 3.1 Inspection
Previous experience in a lead/ supervisory
Hours: 39 hour I week- (7.00am-3.30pm) and pay is around £19.50
