Waste Operations Manager
Reports to: Head of Environmental Services
Location: King’s Cross Estate
Employment Status: Full Time, Permanent
Liaises With: King’s Cross Sustainability Manager, King’s Cross Estate Services management teams and waste contractors
Working Patterns: Flexible, to manage a 24-hour, 7 day a week operation
Duties and Responsibilities:
Control and manage waste collections and disposal across a large public realm portfolio that includes retail, food and beverage outlets and commercial properties.
Manage an evolving waste operations strategy, including the provision and management of equipment to meet operational and statutory requirements.
Have full understanding and working knowledge of the King’s Cross Estate (public realm and buildings).
Responsible for work allocation to the waste team, keeping within the specified detail of the contract. Plan staff rotas and manage staff hours worked, sickness and annual leave.
Comply with all Company & Client policies and statutory regulations relating to Health & Safety, safe working practices, hygiene, cleanliness, fire and COSHH, you must demonstrate awareness of any site-specific hazards and follow company procedures to manage.
Carry out other reasonable tasks as directed by management.
Liaison with all other service providers and stakeholders such as Security and M & E, to promote the “One Team” ethos.
Manage and conduct relevant training to ensure team member competency.
Ensure all collections are accurately recorded and reported to King’s Cross Sustainability Manager.
Assess collection statistics against invoices.
Assist in the strategic management of King’s Cross waste service partners.
Performance monitoring of waste contract KPIs.
Skills & Attributes:
Good understanding of waste management, transport, and disposal methods.
Experience in client and occupier engagement.
Strong Knowledge of waste legislation.
Strong Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation.
Knowledge of environmental legislation.
Ability to interrogate waste data and identify inconsistencies and trends.
Flexible and positive outlook.
Confident, resourceful, and innovative.
Ability to work under pressure.
IT skills, particularly Excel
Proactive management outlook
Salary: £40000 – £45000/annum 40-45k basic plus benefits
