We at First Recruitment Group are currently recruiting a Solution Architect on a contract basis for initially six months with the possibility of this being extended.

The role;

Must have relevant FS experience

Using the strategic architecture and sense of direction from the business to work with development teams and implement plans.

Person will be integrated with 1-2 development teams and acting as solution architect of that team. Checking what they are doing is aligned to the strategic direction, acting as advisor as mentor / coach, as well as coaching on Agile, Preparing documentation which is needed to get project approval.

This is a Hybrid role – Coaching & mentoring, the other element is preparing architectural design documents and getting those documented and agreed.

Contributes to the strategic technical architecture for the firm.

Applies the strategic technical architecture to solutions developed by partner developers.

Is responsible for ensuring all projects are developed in-line with strategic direction, and any technical debt introduced is captured, logged and mitigated.

Builds a strong relationship with IT developers, business analysts and project managers – is seen as an equal and valued partner to the process.

Produces documentation in order to represent IT projects at firm-wide architectural discussions and approval forums.

Works alongside developers and development leaders to agree technical designs and solutions.

Acts as a trusted mentor and coach to developers, and as an ally to scrum masters and business analysts – ensuring the highest possible quality of technical design and implementation within the constructs of any given project.

Ensure all risks are clearly understood, communicated and mitigated.

Maintains an up to date view of technology outside of the firm, looks for value add opportunities whilst remaining risk adverse and sensitive.

Acts as a representative of, and deputy to the head of architecture when required.

Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of the financial services industry in general, and the asset management business in particular and leverages this knowledge on a day to day basis.

Delivers change through influence and negotiation – working outside of a hierarchal approach in order to ensure the right solutions are delivered in a timely manner, regardless of reporting lines.


– Microsoft experience, experience of implementing Microsoft Cloud, SQL, API Gateway.
