Our client provides content discovery services, including metadata normalization through their content data hub, Atlas, and serving user devices in realtime through their product engine, Voila. Our client has a new generation platform that automatically aggregates content from numerous sources as one, putting data to work for platforms and content owners who have traditionally been enslaved by it.
They do this exclusively in the cloud, solely as SaaS run to standard SLAs, and they actively develop the platform such that each customer benefits from the advances others require. They do this with a small, dedicated team where everyone makes things and everyone is supporting prestigious customers and, by extension, millions of end users and devices.
Established in the UK for over 10 years, our client works with broadcasters, platforms, telecoms and VOD providers in the UK and abroad. Their customers include all the major broadcasters, as well as BT, Amazon, YouView and more.
They are now looking for a senior developer to help build practical distributed systems and need familiarity with micro services and web interfaces. They’re the first to adopt AWS, NoSQL (Mongo, Cassandra and Kafka), Kubernetes, Docker (and whatever comes next) when they help us solve difficult problems. As well as the above our active technologies include Dropwizard, ElasticSearch, Prometheus, Jenkins as well as a few python scripts.
Our client codes in Java 8, with the occasional prototype in other languages. They work hard to make sure their build, test, monitoring and hosting systems are nice to use. They organise themselves in an agile fashion, swiftly refocusing our priorities when required. They often deploy code to production multiple times a day.
The systems our client runs process huge volumes of data about broadcast and live events (TV, radio, music, social, etc.) in near realtime. They run sophisticated analytics to help end-users find content and help customers understand how their content is used. Performance is really important: they want our user interfaces to be fast and responsive, and they process too much data to afford the costs of badly engineered systems.
They are makers — they spend most of their time making things, not just talking about making things. We’ll always be smaller than other teams with comparable ambitions, and we believe this makes for a better life. Everyone can have their say, work on things that matter to them, and see the results go live to millions. Joining our client means real challenges, hard but satisfying work, plenty of opportunities to learn about and use new technology.
If you’re interested in joining a small but dynamic team do apply now.
