Hours: 38 weeks per year. 37.5 hours per week. (12 – 18 months fixed
term contract in the first instance starting either April 2021 or September 2021,
with opportunity for extension)
Itinerant, you will be required to travel between bases in Cambridge, Saffron Walden and Huntingdon. You will need to be able to drive for this role and have use of your own car (travel expenses paid between sites during your normal working day).
In this role you will case manage and teach a small number of students individually, typically aged 18-25, with SEN who are accessing bespoke or home education programmes. This will include attending EHCP reviews, setting SMART targets, tracking progress, liaising with families as well as planning and delivering lessons. Your workload will be arranged so that there is a balance between administrative and preparation time and teaching.
You will be a qualified teacher or experienced SEN tutor with a formal qualification in SEN. You will be able to tutor functional skills. You will be comfortable working in a person centred and aspirational for young people with SEND. You will work well as part of a team and able to lead as well as demonstrating best practice.
Skills and qualifications:
· Undergraduate degree
· Teaching qualification (or significant experience) and/or additional qualification/specialism in special educational needs
· Ability to tutor functional skills, or English/Maths up to and including Level 2
· Good knowledge of SEND
· Passion for working in a person-centred way
· Aspirational for the potential of all people
· Good written and verbal communication skills
· An enthusiastic person who is flexible, innovative, reliable, organised, caring and autonomous.
· Experience of submitting and managing the exam process and familiarity with OCR, Edexcel and AQA is desirable
