About the role

Kerry Ingredients, Portbury are recruiting for a Quality Assurance Technologist.  This position will be a a 1st point of contact providing guidance for production quality, food safety, and hygiene issues and drive positive improvements to food safety and quality.

Key responsibilities

Monitoring of QC and CCP parameters

Work cross-functionally to drive improvement in factory standards to exceed our customer and regulatory expectations

Assist in the investigation of complaints including the necessary evaluation, communication and corrective actions, as per the site customer complaint procedure

Continuously improve standards set by facilitating and executing appropriate Root Cause Analysis (RCA) Methodologies such as 8 Step Practical Problem Solving within the Production Stream and other site functions.

Perform routine factory-based food safety and quality standards inspections and audits including Fabrication inspections, GMP, Hygiene Verification audits, Foreign body inspections, layered confirmation audits, logging all non-conformances.

Work cross-functionally in root cause analysis and investigations following site and product non-conformances

Ensure the smooth implementation of new products to site

Work with central teams to amend product specifications, BOM’s and requirements as needed Deliver quality focused training to the production teams

Working alongside the site hygiene lead manage the site EMP schedule 

Represent the quality function in third party audits and customer visits

Qualifications and skills

Proficient written, numerical and verbal skills

Fluency of English language

Numerical ability to record, interpret and analyse key process data

Food manufacturing experience essential

Diploma or Degree in a Food Science related subject

SAP Experience advantageous 

Has a data based approach to decision making

Proficient in the use of MS Office tools

Understanding of Food Safety and Quality Management Systems in both low/high care food manufacturing environments.

Knowledge of allergen management

Food Hygiene Level 2 

HACCP level 2

Knowledge of TACCP

Understanding and ability to apply in live situations the principles and tools of lean manufacturing

Knowledge of H&S Policies and Procedures

Knowledge of third party standards (BRC, retailer COPs etc)
