Operations Technician – Full Time – Beckton


CEN Resources are currently working in partnership with a well-known leading provider of services in the Process, Energy, and Industrial sectors. Our client is responsible for processing a large amount of the UK’s gas supply and operate across many UK sites which include gas terminals, power plants, renewables and chemicals sites.

Due to growth, our client is looking to employ an Operations Technician on a permanent basis. The successful applicant with be based in the East of London.

Duties & Responsibilities

* The Operations Technician works as a member of a shift team (at times alone), & is responsible for the safe, efficient operation, maintenance & improvement

* Following targets and operational direction from the Operations Supervisor or Plant Manager

* Monitoring, inspecting, and controlling plant parameters & providing appropriate first line maintenance

* Interpret and control plant operations through general plant and data presented via a DCS

* Identify, assist & respond effectively to operational demands achieving safe, efficient generation within prescribed limits during routine, foreseeable deviation and emergency operating conditions

* Provide plant systems(s) start up and shutdown services and participate in emergency shutdown procedures

* Identify and immediately report plant defects, observations and anomalies that have, or have the potential to affect operations or safety

* Complete plant routine duties maintaining commercial performance, availability and reliability

* Assist the Operations Supervisor and other personnel on projects and outage preparation

* Control the offloading of raw materials to the site, this includes road tanker fuel, oil and Urea deliveries, ensuring that each product is diverted to the dedicated storage tanks

* Complete required training to develop and maintain competence in completion of required job responsibilities including to HV authorised person

Essential Experience/Skills

* Time served apprenticeship (NVQ 3) in an engineering or process discipline

* Contributing to continuous process/production/ operational environments.

* First line maintenance

* Following procedures, systems & processes

* Supporting planning & outage management

* Fault finding, route cause analysis, problem solving, data monitoring

* Safe System of Work processes & procedures

* Permit to work: risk assessments & method statements

Desirable Experience/Skills

* HNC/HND: -EC&I, mechanical or process discipline

* Power plant operational experience & knowledge

* Power plant generating units, Marine diesel engines or turbo expander units’ operations & maintenance

* Electrical Switching

* Commissioning experience

* Developing and reviewing operational procedures

* Maintaining relationships, with customers, contractors & authorities

* Quality systems, processes & standards

* Data management systems
