NDT/Mechanical Inspector
To carry out NDT Inspection and Mechanical Inspection duties and maintain the required high standards of quality in accordance with defined company specifications, procedures and inspection levels.
Main Duties/Responsibilities:
NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) Inspection & 50°/« Mechanical Inspection.
NDT Inspection
NDT Inspection of precision components from in-house manufacture/assembly, sub-contractors
and suppliers. Workload is predominantly MPI (Magnetic Particle Inspection).
Update and maintain paperwork associated with NDT inspection procedures.
Maintain all NDT equipment and carryout required checks in accordance with the procedure.
Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers when required.
Liaise with the Senior NDT inspector in all NDT activities.
Support annual AS9100 rev D and NDT audits.
Mechanical Inspection
Inspection of precision components from in-house manufacture/assembly, sub- contractors and suppliers associated with a specific contract.
First off inspection.
First article inspection (FAI) and reporting.
Update and maintain paperwork associated with inspection procedures.
Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers when required.
Source inspection (VAS inspect at suppliers)
Skills
* Experience in using precision measuring equipment
* Good understanding of Mechanical Inspection & NDT techniques
* Good working knowledge of ISO 9001:2001 and ideally AS9100 Rev D
* PC literate — Word, Excel and database experience
* Work well in a team environment with good communication skills
* To have an organised and methodical approach
* Manufacturing experience (mechanical)
* Ability to interpret Engineering Drawings
* Ability to interpret Geometric Tolerances
* MPI (Magnetic Particle Inspection)
* LPI (Liquid Penetrant Inspection)
* Preferred – CMM experience
* Preferred – Visual Fair lPl Software (FAIR)
* Preferred – Tensile testing experience for Product Quality Testing (PQT)
Qualifications
Mechanical engineering apprenticeship
* Non- Destructive testing – Magnetic Particle (MPI) testing of Aerospace Products. Level 2 PCN Certified or BS EN 4179: 2017 (current and in date with hours experience data)
* Non- Destructive testing – Liquid Penetrant (LPI) testing of Aerospace Products. Level 2 PCN Certified or BS EN 4179: 2017 (current and in date with hours experience data)
* In-house training and certification by MTD (South West School of Non-Destructive Testing).
* Level 2 in MPI to ASTM E 1444-12 and LPI to ASTM E 1417-13 to be completed within the company in the 3 month probation period.
Experience
Minimum of 3 years’ experience, working in an NDT Inspection / Mechanical Inspection environment.
