The Company: The business is a privately owned independent global engineering company, with a huge depth of knowledge, with the founders of the company having decades of experience in the precision engineering sector and particularly within the aerospace marketplace.
A dedicated workforce of highly qualified personnel allows the business to provide their clients with world class precision engineered products and services. It has invested heavily in new global regions and now boast engineering and manufacturing facilities in Singapore and China, and sales offices around the World. The business is constantly looking at expanding and has recently created a facility in the USA to cope with the ever-increasing demand.
It is proactive in the aerospace and defence markets and offers subcontract services covering precision machining and engineering in any sector.
Role overview: The Managing Director will be responsible for creating and managing effective delivery of the UK company strategy. The aims of the business are customer relationship management, growth, profitability and on time delivery. It is the responsibility of the UK Managing Director to ensure that the UK company strategy is geared towards these aims.
Setting appropriate targets, budgets and production plans to ensure that the business aims are met and that customer satisfaction levels are high.
The role will encompass these primary responsibilities:
Strategic leadership of UK business
Financial management and analysis of company performance ensuring data driven decisions
Leading, coaching and mentoring team members and supporting their professional development
Identifying operational efficiency measures and implementing best in class solutions
Innovation and development of product, production and sales capabilities
Best in class representation of the company with customers
Provision of timely management reports to the board of directors
Overseeing the end-to-end business operations
Working closely with Group Directors to ensure Group policies and compliances are met
Ensuring management and compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental requirements
Other duties as assigned by the board of directors as and when required

Experience and Qualifications:
Experience in similar management capacity in an engineering/manufacturing business
Proven P&L experience/management
Proven strategic planning experience
Proven organisation development experience
Proven people management and leadership experience
Engineering degree or engineering/operational experience will also be considered
Experience in aerospace MRO tooling business would be an added advantage
Experience in high-mix low-volume, machining and fabrication manufacturing environment will be an added advantage
Ability to lead and manage a team of managers, executives, supervisors and employees
Very good communication skills and a team player
Proven growth orientation experience in Sales, Marketing and Business development
Driven and self-motivated with minimum supervision
Results driven
Hands on leader who is not afraid to get hands ‘dirty’.
Good business acumen with an entrepreneurial mindset
Proven problem solving, conflict management & analytical skill sets
Experience with MRP systems would be an added advantage
Experience with LEAN management would be an added advantage
