Our client is a leading provider of project and contract services for the onshore and offshore energy sectors. Due to recent projects won they require a Lead E&I Engineer to work from their busy North East office on a contract basis for at least 6 months

The Role

The Lead E&I Engineer has the following responsibility and authority:

Responsible/accountable for delivery of the E&I scope of work to time, cost and quality
Responsible for robust management of change within the E&I discipline
Responsible for delivery of the E&I engineering and design in accordance with applicable legislation, codes of practice and client/corporate specifications and procedures
The Lead E&I Engineer has a signing authority in accordance with procedures
Ensuring technical accuracy and integrity of the design

Provide safe, cost effective and fit for purpose designs
Control of the E&I manhour budget
Manage E&I resource levels to meet the project schedule and manhour budgets
Provide E&I leadership and team motivation on a project
Ensure that the discipline team has sound knowledge of the project scope and goals
Provision of technical direction, and control of the E&I scope of work
Effectively manage change in compliance with company procedures. Promote a change culture within the E&I team
Effectively plan and control all discipline activities and generation of deliverables to meet the project schedule and milestones
Timely and accurate reporting of E&I progress data to the project
Ensure acceptable levels of accuracy and technical integrity of all E&I deliverables
Supervision and co-ordination of the generation and delivery of the E&I deliverables
Participate in design and safety reviews
Provision of coaching to E&I personnel
Provide advice and guidance on hazardous area installations including ATEX directives and ensure compliance
Ensure compliance with HSE requirements at all stages of the design process. Ensure that identified hazards are mitigated
Ensure that that all E&I documents undergo checking and approval in accordance with procedures
Provide tender support, establish work scopes and deliverables lists and generate CTR’s

The Person

Significant experience in Oil & Gas Brownfield Feasibility, Concept, FEED, EPC Design Projects
Previous experience of leading E&I engineering teams
Advanced knowledge of industry codes of practice and standards
Experience of establishing scopes of work and generating piping CTR’s
Excellent communication skills
Experience of manhour control and change identification/management
Excellent internal/external interfacing skills
Experience of providing input to reviews, including HAZID, HAZOP and constructability reviews
Knowledge of hazardous area installations including ATEX directives.
Qualified to at least HNC level (Electrical/Instruments)
Ideally an Instrumentation/Electrical Degree
CEng MIET (desirable)
BOSIET Offshore Survival Certificate (desirable)
