A 1 month+ opportunity (with the possibility of an extension) for a Housing Options Officer has arisen within the local authorities in Bedfordshire.
Role Information
The role is to participate in an emergency duty rota on a 3 week rotation, providing comprehensive housing advice to prevent and relief homelessness. Candidates will need to be able to assess homeless applications under the legislation, make homelessness inquiries and produce quality personalised housing plans and issue s184 homeless decisions
Role is mostly remote working but candidates will be expected to attend the office and provide office cover. The offices are Covid-Secure.
Your Role:
Deliver effective advisory & assistance service as part of a comprehensive approach to Housing Options that meets statutory requirements.
Negotiate with landlords and other agencies or relevant parties (e.g. family and friends) to ensure that accommodation does not cease to be available to an applicant whenever possible
Manage a caseload, and make decisions in regards to homelessness which include judgements related to duties owed by the local authority and determining the best course of action in emergency situations, which impact upon the health and safety of people in the communityExperience
Minimum 18 months experience assessing applications under the Homeless Reduction ActRate of pay
PAYE: £17.67
Umbrella Company: £22.00
Hours of work are 08:30am till 5pm, Monday to Friday.
