Engineering Programme Manager – Full Time –

We are looking for someone with a mix of sound embedded electronic engineering and software management skills and an intuitive understanding of what works in consumer products, with the ability to build clear plans to deliver the products, to join a small team based just outside Cambridge as an Engineering Programme Manager.
You will be a motivated team player with a demonstrated ability to rise to challenges in a dynamic and rapidly evolving work environment.
Responsibilities
* Defining the user needs, technical specifications and quality requirements, etc. for new products in conjunction with the business and in-country teams
* Managing the product evaluation phases in collaboration with teams in the markets
* Creating, managing and prioritising the engineering timing and resource plans to deliver new product designs in accordance with cost, timing and quality goals
* Where appropriate, working closely with the NPI team to ensure that products comply with DFM requirements
* Supporting the handover of new product designs to the New Product Introduction team and providing assistance to enable the product to enter the market in a timely manner
* Engaging with key component and accessory suppliers to source and adapt new “off-the-shelf” products to meet the requirements of the market
* Establishing and maintaining a documented design and development process
Requirements
* A good degree in an appropriate engineering discipline, ideally to Masters or higher level
* 10 years’ engineering management experience, working with small teams to bring products from early definition stage to market introduction
* Demonstrated understanding of the requirements of consumer electronics development and manufacture
* Experience of managing product development using a number of approaches including agile and conventional v-model approaches
* Commercially savvy so that you can develop the business case, and manage pricing and development costs
* An understanding of manufacturing processes and an appreciation of quality tools and processes
* Attention to detail and commitment to quality
* Strong analytic skills with knowledge of standard tools such as Excel, Matlab etc
* Team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
* Willing to travel to Africa and the Far East from time to time
The following would be highly advantageous:
* Experience of working with and managing Far Eastern suppliers
* Ability to speak Mandarin
