Employability Officer JCP
Salary 30-35k per annum dependent on experience
South of Birmingham – home based – national travel – Car allowance
Support employability activities designed to provide opportunities for Job Centre Plus (JCP) claimants to benefit from work-based learning in a rail technician role. Work with HEOs and job coach’s in the JCP to help promote rail programs at their local college.
Role and responsibilities:-
·Work with JCP Higher Executive Officers and Job Coach’s in local JCP to increase the number of quality referrals to NSS from JCP.
·Be the central point of contact to inform and educate all local JCP officers about the NSS Rail programs, its pre-requirements, eligibility, and structure in order to ensure quality informed applicants attend IAG dates at the college.
·Attend breakfast meetings and ad-hoc team briefings at JCP centres to inform all stakeholders of the opportunities within the rail industry.
·Work with the learner mobilisation team to develop students’ willingness and drive to attend IAG sessions through increased knowledge of the rail industry, cv development, functional skills assessments and professionalism.
·Co-ordinate the NSS learner mobilisation support to the overall learner engagement strategy.
·Help ensure that rail critical safety attributes are explicitly embedded in all learner engagement sessions.
·Develop links with JCP key regional personal and extend the numbers of centres who NSS have active relationships with.
·Work closely with Directors of Operations and Director of Client Relationships to ensure sign up sessions at colleges are well attended.
·Work closely with JCP clients to match them to the most suitable rail program-based income, prior attainment, and local devolution strategies. Ensuring always that they are well-prepared to undertake said program.
·Liaise with JCP stakeholders to feedback on JCP referrals during their program to ensure that they are working effectively and feeling motivated
·Publicise and promote the opportunities available to claimants in relation to outcomes into employment.
·Maintain accurate records and management information to support the Directors.
·Use IT databases effectively to support the JCP and NSS
Additional Key Requirements:
Managing own diary and resources. Will provide work-based training and guidance to all JCP new staff or less experienced colleagues within own areas of work. Maintain up to date manual and electronic systems ensuring the accurate recording of all information. Undertake routine financial administration as needed.
Communicate frequently with JCP contacts, learner mobilisation teams, JCP applicants and respond courteously to enquiries and queries. Provide information and advice about the rail industry to a range of experiences from claimants. There is a requirement for good listening and interpersonal skills and the ability to flex communication style.
Work with colleagues and JCP stakeholders to promote a career in the rail industry. Work flexibly as needed to provide efficient and effective support. This will include working across different regions of England and will require plenty of on the ground meetings.
Salary: £30000 – £35000/annum 30-35k dep on exp
