A high growth tech business making a real difference in a sector that really matters is looking for an experienced Director of Engineering in Lincoln with the ability to work remotely 2 – 3 days per week offering a salary of £70,000 – £80,000 per annum.

As a Director of Engineering, you will:

Understand the company vision and build a technology roadmap that underpins and facilitates our business goals.
Lead, manage and mentor a team of 20, covering the areas of Development, Data and DevOps
Oversee the delivery of a number of concurrent platform development projects from design through to release
Draw on your Agile knowledge and experience to work with the Head of Delivery to determine what methodology works best for us, taking the most relevant elements of various methods to provide a best in class development process
As and where appropriate, identify opportunities for emerging technologies that can help us achieve our goals more effectively and efficiently, whilst driving a culture of innovation and delivery
Take overall ownership of the core platform and system architecture, making key decisions on selected tools, platforms and initiatives, considering feasibility, necessity and cost
Ensure a collaborative and positive working relationship with the product teams to solve critical problems via a range of design solutions that simplify complexity and support the delivery of products that are easy to use
We are looking for a Director of Engineering with:

Experience of leading the tech function within a B2B SaaS business that has grown at a rapid pace and has further growth plans in the pipeline
Proven experience in determining technical strategy, infrastructure & architecture frameworks, with enough hands-on technical expertise to ensure successful delivery of them
Previous experience as a “hands on” engineer who has then gone on to manage a high performing engineering function
A strong desire and demonstrated ability to lead and attract top technology talent, having managed high performing tech teams in high growth, fast paced environments
Experience in working with remote teams
Ability to translate customer insights and business strategy into technical requirements
Accountability for creating, tracking and delivering on targets and metrics
Previous experience of working in an Agile environment and/or implementing Agile ways of working, consistently aware of ensuring quality and best practice
Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to effectively report and manage both upwards and downwards
Experience of collaborating with and building strong relationships across multiple business functions to ensure technology roadmap delivery
Innovative, self-starting, positive, down to earth, strategic individual with high integrity and a sense of humour
An understanding of and/or experience of working in the following tech stack:

AWS
Docker
Micro Services Architecture
SQL, Python
React, JavaScript, HTML

A bachelor’s degree, MBA or post graduate qualification in Computer Science or related field preferable
