We want a talented Digital Performance Analyst to join our team. You’ll work alongside digital teams who build services for the millions of people of who access DWP products and support, as well as systems used by 100,000+ colleagues and agents.

You’ll help DWP understand the needs of the service users and figure out how we’ll measure if we’re meeting those needs.

You will ensure DWP understands how users interact with our digital services and undertake analysis that will drive customer-centric innovations and investments to really improve the user experience.

In DWP, Digital Performance Analysts conduct analysis by developing and working with performance measurement frameworks, KPIs, goals, user needs, and benefits.

This is not just web analytics. As a digital performance analyst you will work closely with digital teams that build services for our citizens. You will develop measures from a variety of data sources that support teams to prove the value they add and ensure they meet the Government’s Digital by Default Service Standard.

You will be responsible for carrying out analysis and providing insights against the measures you have developed. Encouraging digital teams to always design and build with measurement and the value to the citizen in mind.

This is a key role that will deliver accurate and actionable insights to a variety of stakeholders, to drive the focus and out the user at the heart of everything that we do.

You will:

Lead the development of performance metrics and KPIs for your service and build dashboards and provide in depth reports to communicate key metrics
Track/measure customer behaviour and use data to inform iterative service changes. Follow a process of continual iteration and measurement in order to monitor, iterate and improve
Be skilled in digital performance analysis and the configuration and deployment of digital analytical solutions, particularly Google Analytics
Define tagging, create and validate digital analytics tags and set up customer dimensions and metrics where required
Deliver high-quality analysis that provides meaningful and actionable insights to improve the service, proactively offering suggestions of ways to improve the service
Identify and communicate service performance, actionable stories and business insights from the data to stakeholders and the team, to inform user-centric design decisions
Supply of high quality service data via the performance platform and other internal dashboards in order to allow data-driven decisions based on visualisations, alerts, dashboards and feeds
Share examples of best practice in digital analytics across DWP’s digital projects and with other digital analysts in government
Be highly visible within a multidisciplinary team of designers, user researchers and developers, promoting analysis and evidence based decision making
Work with a service manager to make sure their service meets the performance requirements in relation to analytics set out in the Digital by Default Service Standard

What skills and experience do you need to demonstrate in your application?

Performance Measurement: You participates in discussions to figure our which performance measurements are appropriate, with guidance from more experienced colleagues. You have experience in turning business needs and goals into performance measures
User Centred Analysis: You can use quantitative and qualitative data about users to turn user focus into outcomes. You deliver analysis and information that addresses stakeholder needs and provides recommendations
Working Together: You encourage joined up team work within own team and across other groups. You establish relationships with key stakeholders, and collaborate to share information, resources and support
Changing and Improving: You work with others to identify areas for improvement and simplify processes to use fewer resources. You use technology where possible to increase efficiency and encourage ideas for change. You can explain the reasons for change to colleagues and how to implement them, helping people with different needs to adapt
