To provide clinical support to the Clinic Manager and take responsibility for clinical standards within the clinic. To ensure that care provided is in line with Company Policies and Procedures and comply with Regulatory requirements.
1. CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Work closely with National Lead Clinic Nurse to maintain high standards of patient care.
To be fully compliant with the N.M.C. code of professional conduct and SCOPE of professional practice.
To understand responsibilities concerning the National Minimum Standards for Independent Health Care, Private Doctors.
Manage and maintain standards of Nursing Care within the clinic and identify any areas of concern to the Clinic Manager and the National Lead Clinic Nurse.
To provide pre and post operative duties in line with Company Policies and Procedures:
Complete an anaesthetic and pre-operative health screening on patients for surgery, ensuring adequate time between screening and operating date for any additional information to be obtained if so required.
All clinical work must be undertaken in line with the Policies and Procedures for Control of Infection
All clinical waste and sharps produced must be disposed of in line with legislation company Policies and Procedures
Ensuring that patient’s medical files and all relevant health history information are correctly stored and maintained.
Ensuring all required pre-operative investigations are carried out as per Patient Selection Criteria – see C008.
Ensuring that appropriate blood tests are carried out as per C008, ensuring that blood results are received and actioned.
Ensure that completed medical Information is sent to appropriate operating site and a copy kept at the clinic.
Ensure that clinic consultation areas are ready for consultation days and that appropriate notes are available for review patients.
Chaperoning surgeons as requested.
Liasing all relevant patient information between surgeons, operating facility staff and relevant clinic staff.
Taking pre and post-operative photos and ensuring that these photographs are kept securely in-patients records.
Providing incoming telephone support service for reassurance for patients and urgent clinical matters are handled appropriately.
Routinely telephoning patients on day following discharge and when appropriate relevant to surgery and individual patients.
Liaising with relevant surgeon regarding any developing or ongoing recovery difficulties.
Post operative wound care management and suture/clip removal.
Ensuring following wound check, suture/clip removal appointment relevant appointment is made for review.
Provide band fill services to patients following gastric band procedures, working with the multidisciplinary team where necessary (dieticians, bariatric nurse specialists, surgeons) to ensure optimum post-operative aftercare is provided to bariatric patients
To have overall responsibility for the inventory, control and organisation of clinical equipment, nursing staff and nursing/surgical procedures undertaken within the Clinic.
To ensure a safe and comfortable environment for patients including:
The maintenance of privacy and dignity always.
the provision and proper maintenance of equipment
supervision of drug administration in line with Policies and Procedure
Ensuring the adequate provision of pre and post operative care facilities.
Ensure that all records relating to patients are maintained in line with Company Policies and Procedures and current legislation
Ensure any drugs are held in line with Company Policy & Procedures.
In line with the Management System (Quality) procedures within the clinic will be reviewed regularly at a minimum once a year.
Ensure that practices are in line with Company Policies and Procedures and be conversant with the Management (Quality) System.
2. NURSING ADMINISTRATION AND MANAGEMENT
Work within Company systems in maintaining complete records and ensuring that all records are handled in line with current legislation. That all care given to, or communications with, individual patients is completely recorded, signed and dated. This must be within their individual Medical Records.
To provide appropriate and accurate reporting systems in line with Company Policy and on a timely basis. This is to include infection control, adverse events, accidents and incidents.
Ensure that all complaints are recorded and handled in line with Company policies.
To ensure that you are aware of Care Quality Commission inspections and are present at them.
Salary: £30000 – £32000/annum
