An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Building Surveyor to join a public sector organisation based in Essex
The successful applicant will have previous experience in building inspection work, supervising projects and running contracts, ideally within a public sector organisation.
They will be required to have a knowledge of building construction, both Building and Health & Safety regulations as well as tendering procedures.
Lastly, one or more formal qualifications are desired
In this role the overall purpose is to be responsible as a professional surveyor for the repair, maintenance, improvement and re-servicing of all council-owned, managed and leased stock in accordance with relevant policies, procedures and legislation, providing an effective and efficient technical service. The key tasks and responsibilities are as follows:
To inspect occupied and vacant properties and communal areas, prepare specifications for work, arrange tendering if appropriate, issuing works orders, supervising work, inspecting completed work and authorising payments and to ensure schemes are completed to time.
To prepare specifications, undertake tendering procedures, issue appropriate orders including variations, within approved financial constraints. To secure planning or building control approval. To supervise, inspect and authorise payments for any other minor technical works.
To make recommendations following inspections of properties and communal areas for inclusion in planned schemes, specialist works or major remedial works schemes.
